How does a butterfly kiss feel? What sequence of neuronal events makes the feeling happen?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
  • The butterfly kiss feels like the butterfly wings gently landing upon the skin and flapping its wing.
  • It is a type of touch sensation, which is carried by the Gall & Burdach from the skin.

Pathway: The sensation is received by the Nociceptor then carried by the afferent nerve fiber( first order neurone) to the dorsal horn of gray matter in the spinal cord then it forms a synapse and crosses the gray matter to recah the opposite side and forms 2nd order neurone to reach the thalamus where it forms a another synapse to reach the cortex and relay the sensation information in the sensory cortex region forming the 3rd order neurone. Thus the feeling happens or perceived.
