What is a loading control? And what makes a good/bad loading control?

Answer. Loading control are those protien which is loaded as control in western blotting.As good loading control are the housekeeping gene which are expressed in every cell in huge amount, so by loading control we can see the comparision of gene expression of desired protein with loading control. So good loading control is that which expressed consistent regardless of tissue or cell type or experimental conditions. The GADPH and Actin are good loading control while other organelle has their loading control as for nucleas Histone 2B or PCNA can be used as such for mitochondria VDCA1/porin. So expression of protein consistently in cell make it a good loading control.
