DNA replciation involves several steps. They are as follows-

  • DNA replication starts after a Replication bubbles produce at the site which is called rigin of replicaiton.
  • The enzyme helicase used to unwind parental double strand of DNA, Now, during replication, one strand is synthesize continuously, we say this leading strand and the other strand synthesize dicontinuously known as lagging strand.
  • After this, single stranded binding protein or SSB protein is utilized to make the unwind DNA structure stable.
  • Next step is take over by DNA polymerase which starts to synthesize new strands. In lagging strand a enzyme called primase. Priamse synthesizes short nucleotide fragments of RNA primers. These primers will further extended by RNA polyerase and forms okazaki fragment.
  • DNA polymeaseI further removes the small primers and ligase enzyme next close the okazaki fragments.
