Question

what is the role of DNA and RNA in protein sythesis

what is the role of DNA and RNA in protein sythesis

Homework Answers

Answer #1

DNA is a genetic material that have specific sequence of nucleotides known as gene. Genes contains the specific sequence of nucleotides that determines the sequence of amino acids. But first by the process of transcription the DNA sequence is transcribed to single stranded RNA sequence because only single stranded RNA can be read by the ribosome, the protein making machinery.

By the process of translation the specific nucleotides sequence on RNA is translated to make protein by ribosomes.

So DNA stores the information for the protein and that information is converted into protein by an intermediate molecule known as RNA. This is known as central dogma in which DNA makes RNA and RNA makes protein.
