Like other radiations light waves are electromagnetic in nature and they are carried in the form of discrete energy units called photons or quanta.The visible light ranges from 390 nm to 760 nm wavelength which is mostly used in photosynthesis by the green plants.Each pigment in a plant absorbs only certain specific wavelength of light and reflects the others.Chlorophylls are the main light absorbing pigments in plants.It reflects green light instead of absorbing it.This is the reason why we see green color on plant leaves.
