Why must some viruses enter the nucleus to replicate whereas others do not?

Why must some viruses enter the nucleus to replicate whereas others do not?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The virus which has RNA in their genome replicate in the cytoplasm becuase they have their own RNA polymerase which helps in replication of RNA. The other reason is that the splicing enzymes can modify their RNA as they get to the nucleus.

While the DNA viruses replicate mostly in the nucleus as they dont have DNA and RNA polymerase for replication and transcription so they have to get into the nucleus where they use the host RNA and DNA polymerase for transcription. That is why they have to go into the nucleus to get replicated.

Some temperature-sensitive bacterial mutants stop replication immediately following elevation of temperature, whereas others continue to replicate their DNA for a period of time before they cease this activity, and still others continue until a round of replication is completed. How might these three types of mutants differ?

Q2. A virus must replicate in the infected cell and orchestrate the assembly of virion constituents to produce progeny viruses and propagate itself. This often happens at the expense of the infected cell. A radical but ultimately effective response to stop virus replication is for the infected cell to self-destruct via apoptosis. Some viruses have evolved strategies to overcome this. A. Some Coronoviruses does it by inducing apoptosis of the killer lymphocyte cells. How does apoptosis of killer lymphocyte cells...

Some gang members have survived being shot multiple times, whereas others die from the first, not necessarily life-threatening wound. Why the difference? The answer may come, surprisingly, from what police academy recruits often hear during their training: The will to survive is a must. If you give up, you will die. If you become complacent, you will die. What does this statement mean? Illustrate with specific examples. How does this police academy mindset compare to the gang survival instinct?
