The term pseudoscience refers to beliefs and practices that claim to be scientific but lack the true method, rigorous proofs andessence of science.

Pseudoscientific anti-vaccine activism and promotion of homeopathic remedies as alternative disease treatments can result in people forgoing important medical treatment with demonstrable health benefits. There were some experiments from later 19th century suggest that homoeopathy has plaecebo effect but no direct effect on any disease or pathogen.

Another example could be astrology.
