This statement said that most previously comes in earth in plant is Red algae or fungi which have Haplontic life cycle means they have Free living gametophytic generation but very reduced sporophytic generation represented by only one celled zygote. As plants grow bryophytes and pteridophytes come which Haplodiplontic life cycle means more or less equal gametophytic or sporophytic generation. Further, gymnosperm and Angiosperm develops which have very reduced gametophytic generation but dominant sporophytic generation. In other sentance we can say that the evolution of plants trend towards dominant sporophytic generation.
