Discuss the location and function of one of the major spinal tracts.

Lateral spinothalamic tract:

This tract is part of anterolateral system. Sensory information is carried to the brain. Also, there is carrying of temperature sensation as well. Also, there would be carrying of touch sensation to thalamus. Here is presence of secondary sensory neurons such as the unmylinated Delta C fibers as well as myelinated delta A fibers, which are slow conducting. These neurons have already been linked with the primary sensory neurons present in the posterior horn.

These would be originating from the spins ganglia and would be projecting peripheral processes to tissues, such that these would be indicate cell damage. This is one of the ascending pathway tracts.
