Which of the following statements is incorrect about DNA replication?
-The ends of eukaryotic chromosomes are replicated using single stranded DNA repeats and DNA polymerase
-Post-replication mismatch repair is one mechanism that enhances the accuracy of DNA replication.
-DNA replication is semi-conservative such that each daughter chromosome contains a single strand of DNA from the parental cell.
-DNA replication is regulated so that it occurs only once during the cell cycle, in most eukaryotic cells.
-Eukaryotic chromosomes tend to have multiple origins of replication.
The first statement is wrong but need help with the explanation as to why. Please help with great detail.
The whole statement is wrong, remember that such ends are called telomeres, and such telomeres have the end replication problem, which in summary is the lack of ability to replicate the ends of a DNA strand, so these ends don't get replicated and the daughter molecules become shorter and shorter in each replication. So no, DNA polymerase can do nothing to replicate the ends
There is a process that adds more nucleotides, it is the action of an enzyme called Telomerase, but it is only active in stem cells and this is not replication anyways.
