Evolution is the change in heritable charecteristic in a given population, because of mutation, natural selection, genetic drift, artificial selection etc.

Adaptive evolution is the evolutionary change which is adaptive to the given environment. It is produced by natural selection.

Adaptive evolution is more rapid in large population, because of the presence of more variation and having more number.

It is very well cleared by human rapid adaptive evolution for last 40,000-80,000 years.
