A triglyceride with many double bonds must contain which type of fatty acid?
Ans: Triglyceride with many double bonds must contain the unsaturated fatty acids. Triglycerides are the esters and contains three fatty acids that are bonded to a glycerol molecule and therefore their features depend on the type of fatty acids to which they are attached. There are two types of fatty acids which are saturated fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids. Saturated fatty acids have different hydrogen atoms on the carbon chain while unsaturated fatty acids have double bonds within the carbon chain and contains less hydrogen atoms. Triglycerides are the main constituent of fat in our body. The double bonds in unsaturated fatty acids also bring the bend in the molecule and thus halts the packing of fatty acids and because of this they are they are liquid at room temperature.
