1. A mutation is a change in the nucleotide sequence of DNA which may or may not affect the phenotype of the organism.

It can occur in somatic cell or germline cell of individual. If it occurs in germline cell, than it is passed onto the next generation and this is how it is reproduced.

2. Ribose sugar - 5 carbon sugar which has an OH group present at 2' carbon.

Deoxyribose sugar - 5 carbon sugar which does not contain OH at 2' carbon.
