Ans: Tiktaalik is a genus of extinct species of fish. Tiktaalik rosaea is a species in this genus. Fossils of this fish, give a lot of idea about evolution of tetrapods from fishes. If we talk about body structure of Tiktaalik rosaea, it had fish like body having scales and gills, but its notable feature are its flat head and unusually extended fins. It has found that, its fins had usual thin ray bones like most of the fishes along with unusual strong interior bones which it used to prop up in shallow water and used them for support like all the tetrapods do. These feature make Tiktaalik rosaea a connection /intermediate for the transition from fishes to initial tetrapods i.e. those animals which evolved into amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds etc.
