would B cell activation occur in a person who has NO dendritic cells (DC)? Explain.
No, B cell activation will not occur. Dendrite cells are responsible for the processing of antigen material and present it on the cell surface of T cells. Hence, dendrite cells actually activate the T cells. However, B cells activation includes excision of the unwanted isotypes and they may express IgA, IgE, IgG or retain IgM expression. Cytokines produced by T cells and other cells are important in determining what isotype the B cells express. This is done with the help of dendritic cells. Hence, dendritic cells are very important for activation of B cells.
