marine biology questions: if you cannot answer the first one i understand. thanks
1 How many knots are in one time zone? How many knots are in all time zones taken together?
2 By the late 1800s, marine labs were being established in certain locations around the world (in the United States, Woods Hole and Scripps Institute to name a few). Why were scientists interested in setting-up marine laboratories? What were the advantages over scientific expeditions?
Answer-1 there are 3-4 knots in a time zone. There are total 27 time zones so there will be more than 100 knots in all the time zones.
Answer-2 at that time there was a little knowldege for the marine biology. The scientist focused on the marine biology labs to reveal the hidden facts and information in the marine animals. Marine animals are a food source for a vast part of word population and also there are other benefits associated with them. The third point was that there was only little or negligible knowledge about the life cycle and species of the marine animals. These all factors lead to the establishment of marine labs and focussed to research.
