Dwarfism is carried on the dominant allele. If a dwarf female mates with a dwarf male, what will be the phenotypic ratios of their offspring?

My work:
       Dd
D. DD Dd
d. Dd dd

Answer #1

According to work shown in question offspring will be having geotype as DD, Dd, dd so their genotypic frequency will be 1:2:1. and phenotypic frequency will be 3:1. DD and Dd ( dwarf) 3 :1 dd (tall).

But other conditions may be possible. if genotype of dwarf female and dwarf male is DD. Then genotype will be DD for all offspring so genotyic ratio will be 4;0 and phenotypic ratio will be 4;0 because all offspring will be dwarf.

If dwarf female of gentope Dd and dwarf male of gentype DD then genotype will be DD (2) :Dd(2) i.e genotypic ratio will be 1:1 and phenotypic ratio will be 4:0. All offspring will be tall.

In tomatoes, red fruit color (Y) is the dominant allele to yellow (yy) fruit color; and tallness (D) of the plant is the dominant allele to dwarfism (dd). If pure breeding strain of a tall, red fruited variety is crossed with a pure breeding strain of dwarf, yellow fruited variety. Give the genotypes of these parents, and the phenotypic and genotypic ratio in the F1, and F2 generations.
