Describe how a hormonal contraceptive containing progesterone prevents pregnancy.

The form of progesterone used in hormonal pills is progestin. Progestin has its roles in the menstrual cycle as well cycle. Progestin would be used in conjugation with estrogen. Progestin onlybpills would be working by :

  • Thickening of the mucus present in the cervix, as a result of which it gets difficult for the sper-m to be fusing with the ova and fertilising.
  • Their would be a block in ovulation,.
  • Also, there would be thinning in the iteration lining.
