Maternal behavior is associated with the characteristics of a
mother, such as dogs and other female mammals, in caring and
raising the young ones.
Nest building, arched-back nursing, licking, maternal
aggression, and lactation are included in the maternal behavior,
which improves the offspring's survival and its well-being.
Offsprings receiving less attention from their mothers grow up
as less socially active ones, and the ones which receive more
attention from their mothers grow as socially active and relaxed
ones.
When offsprings receive more attention from their mothers,
there is a decrease in methyl makers of the gene associated with
their brain development showing the maternal behavior decreases the
methyl makers, which would otherwise cause nervous temperament in
the offsprings.
