Why those with T-cell deficiencies are more prone to viral infections?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Why those with T-cell deficiencies are more prone to viral infections

T cell deficiencies take place as there would b a reduction in the function of the specific T cells. As a result, there is a form of immunodeficiency taking place in the individual. As a result of a deficiency, there would be a decrease in the T cell counts, along with detection of the pathogen in the culture.

Due to deficiencies, there would be a reduction in the number of cytotoxic T cells. These would be controlling the viral infections as there would be toll like receptor interferon signaling. Also, there would be a deficiency in the CD8+ Tcrll responses. These deficiencies result in increased susceptibility to the viral diseases, leading to severe forms.

Also, there is a decrease in the natural killer T cells, which is an essential factor in fighting against viral pathogens.

As you saw from the lab PowerPoint slides last week, you will be doing a research study looking at ‘Aggression Priming” for your first paper. For this week’s discussion, I want you to discuss with your group what you think this study is about. What is the hypothesis? What theory does it come from? What do you predict will happen (do you expect something different than the hypothesis in the researcher instructions? If so, what and why?)? Do you think...

Cindy has two groups. She randomly assigns subjects to her two groups. She has one group spend 10 minutes writing about a sad time in their life. She has the other group write about a happy time in their life. Then she gives both groups a persuasive message about bicycle helmets and measures their attitude about bicycle helmets. She predicts that the sad group will be more persuaded than the happy group. Tell me the if the hypothesis stated is...

Section C – Mutation of SARS-CoV-2 Over Time All viruses accumulate mutations over time, and different classes of viruses have different mutation rates based on the fidelity with which their genomes are replicated. Viral mutations can affect the accuracy of tests, the efficacy of vac- cines, and virulence (the ability to spread, the seriousness of illness, etc.). In this section you will compare a number of sequenced genomes from clinical samples during the first several months of the COVID-19 outbreak...

A cell phone company offers two plans to its subscribers. At the time new subscribers sign up, they are asked to provide some demographic information. The mean yearly income for a sample of 42 subscribers to Plan A is $55,500 with a standard deviation of $8,500. This distribution is positively skewed; the coefficient of skewness is not larger. For a sample of 40 subscribers to Plan B, the mean income is $56,800 with a standard deviation of $8,700. At the...
