Answer #1

LOC_Os05g38000 = ROPGEF7
It codes for a RHO guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor 7.

Molecular function:
It stimulates the exchange of Guanine nucleotides associated with Rho GTPase family. They allow the exchange of bound GDP to GTP. i.e. they act antagonistic to GAPs

If we delete GEF's, the GTPase is bound always with GDP resulting in its inactivation. Due to this, the downstream signaling events that ultimately lead to cell proliferation, nuclear transprot, and cytoskeletal organization are not initiated.

I was assigned the gene LOC_Os05g38000 I was asked to design guide RNAs that would remove the whole gene (but make sure primers would still bind). Then draw an image with guide locations and show the size of the deletion. Justify why would you chose those two guides. Someone please help I'll upvote! Anything will be apreciated!!

For this question, we focus on four parts: I, the gene that produces the repressor protein; P, the promoter region where RNA polymerase binds to initiate transcription; O, the Operator site, where the repressor binds. When the repressor binds, it prevents transcription; and ZYA, the three structural genes, all of which are required for the successful utilization of lactose as a food source. In the left column of the table below, we indicate the genetic composition at the lac operon...

Human ABO blood type is determined by three alleles (IA, IB, and i) whose gene products modify the H antigen produced by protein activity of an independently assorting H gene. A rare abnormality known as the “Bombay phenotype” is the result of epistatic interaction between the gene for the ABO blood group and the H gene. Individuals with the Bombay phenotype appear to have blood type O based on the inability of both anti-A antibody and anti-B antibody to detect...
