1)Normally, how many pronuclei are found in fertilized oocytes and what is their origin?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Pronuclei is the nucleus of the egg and the sperm . They are haploid and contains the DNA of both parents . They are present in the oocytes undergoing fertilization. Only the DNA present within the pronuclei fuse together ,not the nuclei . An ultimately they will form the diploid cell containing the genetic material from both the parents.

Thus normally 2 pronuclei are present within the fertilized oocyte. One from the sperm and the other from the egg itself.
