what are regulators of metabolism?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The regulators of metabolism are commonly proteins called hormones which play an important role in conroling the rate of biological reactions and also the activation or inhibition of other biomolecules, hormones, enzymes, etc.

For example, the TSH - Thyroid Stimulating Hormone stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine that plays an important role in maintaining the body's basal metabolic rate (BMR). In this case, one hormone is stimulating another. So this is how the regulators of metabolism work.
