Difference between anaerobic respiration and fermentation: Anaerobic respiration and fermentation differ from each other in terms of final electron acceptor. In anaerobic respiration, the final electron acceptor is an inorganic molecule other than O₂ like nitrate, sulfate and carbonate, whereas in fermentation, the final electron acceptor is an organic molecule like lactate or ethanol
