1. What is the similarity & difference of anaerobic respiration and fermentation?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Similarity between anaerobic respiration and fermentation: The major similarity between anaerobic respiration and fermentation is that both of these processes occur in absence of oxygen.

Difference between anaerobic respiration and fermentation: Anaerobic respiration and fermentation differ from each other in terms of final electron acceptor. In anaerobic respiration, the final electron acceptor is an inorganic molecule other than O2 like nitrate, sulfate and carbonate, whereas in fermentation, the final electron acceptor is an organic molecule like lactate or ethanol
