The PCR and DNA fingerprinting methods are used for characterization of the bacterial communities through identification of characteristic and unique DNA sequence and pattern. PCR is polymerase chain reaction which is a method for amplification of the DNA sequence and helps in finding out the presence of it in the soil or biofilm or the host environment. It helps in finding the bacterial communities by finding out the presence of specific sequences. DNA fingerprinting is a method which helps in identification of unique DNA sequence that is present in the bacterial communities. It helps in finding out the individual characteristics of the DNA sequence and hence identifying the type of bacterial species
