Other than a p53 response, name three ways how cells with extra centrosomes (centrosome amplification) can minimize aneuploidy?
Answer : There are mechanisms to remove aneuploid cells from our body which prevents further damage to the body. 3 ways in which cells deal with aneuploidy are the following.
1. Direct killing by NK cells (Natural killer cells) - As soon as there is formation of a cell with aneuploidy, NK cells come into picture to kill them.
2. Aneuploid cells develop proteotoxic stress leading to arrest of cell cycle and death by apoptosis.
3. Aneuploid cells develop energy stress which leads to formation of ROS (reactive oxygen species) which further leads to its death by apoptosis.
