How is enteric nervous system different than autonomous nervous system?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
  • The Autonomic nervous system is the part of the nervous system which is responsible for controlling the body internal organs (like-heart,eye,lung,digestive organs, etc) in unconscious manner.
  • The Enteric nervous system is the nervous system which is a part of the autonomic nervous system which is responsible for controlling the digestive organs (like- GI tract, stomach, esophagus, gallbladder, large & small intestine etc.)

So autonomic nervous system controls the in whole body and all the internal organs (like-eye,heart,lung,GI,Urinary bladder etc) but the enteric nervous system is a part of the autonomic nervous system which maintains the digestive system only (like-GI tract,Stomach,Intestine etc).
