The major difference between plants and animal cell cycle is cytogenesis. In a plant cell, a new cell wall is formed between the new daughter cells. However, in animal cells, the cell membrane pinches into daughter cells. In bacteria, cell division occurs by binary fission.

In plant cells, cytokinesis occurs by cell plate method. In animal cells, it occurs by cleavage.

In plants spindle usually remains during the process of cytokinesis. However, in animal cells, the spindle degenerates immediately after anaphase.

In plant cells, spindle central part grows in size and forms a complex called phragmoplast. In animal cells, a dense fibrous mid-body with the vesicular material is formed in middle.
