List two coenzymes and describe their functions

List two coenzymes and describe their functions

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Coenzymes are the substances that help the enzymes to perform effectively and catalyse the biochemical reactions. Without these coenzymes , the enzyme is called as apoenzyme , and with the enzyme it is called as holoenzyme.

These coenzymes are organic molecules containing carbon atoms and are reusable.

For example : !) vitamins or vitamin derivatives. such as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and coenzyme A.

NAD+ helps in transfer of electrons in the redox reactions. In it's absence ATP is produced less and the cell becomes energy deficient.

2) ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is a non vitamin coenzyme. It supplies energy for all the biochemical reactions occuring in the body and helps in muscle contraction.
