Discuss how elevating the endogenous cytokinin content in crop plants can affect yield. Please explain as much and as detail possible. Thank you.
Cytokinins are the plant hormones that play a significant role in stimulating the metabolism of nucleic acids, cell growth or cell division, and the interactions between the roots and shoots during the stress conditions. Exogenous application of cytokinins to plants delay the senescence of leafs, enhance the antioxidant capacity, and reduce the lipid peroxidation. The application of cytokinins was found to enhance the yielding of wheat and rice yielding as it enhance the cell division in the endoplasm of the grains and thus, regulate the grain size.
