How are mRNAs modified in eukaryotes? What types of elements are sometimes present in RNA’s but usually not in DNA’s?
In mRNA some segments called exons are retained in final stage , on the otherhand splicing takes place, that is nothing but the removal of introns. This process of removal of introns is done by spliceosome (except for self-splicing introns) mathod. There are some additional processing steps in which modifications to the 5' and 3' ends in pre-mRNA takes place and that is how modification occurs in eukaryotes .
There are four bases present in DNA they are adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C) and thymine (T) while in case of RNA first 3 bases are same but the last or fourth is Urasil (U) and thus in RNA pyrimidine bases are formed by cytosine and uracil and in DNA the pyrimidine bases formed by cytosine and thymine.
