I am writing a lab report for an unknown bacterium. We randomly chose a broth culture labeled with a number and throughout the whole experiment we did not know which bacterium we had. Because of this I don’t know what my hypothesis should be since the bacteria wasn’t identified until after the results. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Broth cultures are spreaded on the agar plate, colonies are observed for the growth.

We can check colony morphology, later biochemical analysis done coagulase and catalase, sulphur producing.

Gram staining done to predict the gram +ve and gram -ve.

To know whether it is Gram +ve or -ve, cocci, bacilli, vibrio, spirilla, catalase +ve or -ve, we can predict the organism. For every unknown micro organisms this is must.

Based on the characterstics of the microbes, these are cultured selective medium and differential medium this confirm the unknown bacterium then your task is easy to identify the hypothesis
