Transtheoretical model (TTM) is also known as " stages of change". It is a model of health behaviour change and applied in many fields like smoking cessation ,obesity and substance abuse. It assess whether the individual is ready to accept and act on new health behaviour change and also guide them with different strategies to change the individual.

Prochaska and collagues have researched on this model and have stated that the behaviour change will be more effective if it is matched with each individual's state of change.
