Using mRNA strand: ATGGGCTAGTCTT what tRNA codons would bring amino acids into the ribosome?

Using mRNA strand: ATGGGCTAGTCTT what tRNA codons would bring amino acids into the ribosome?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In question it is given that it is a mRNA strand so the actual mrna codon is:AUGGGCUAGUCUU

as there is uracil(U) in mrna in place of Thymine(T)

first trna will read AUG so trna anticodon will be UAC which will bring methionine

second trna will read GGC so trna anticodon will be CCG which will code for glycine

third trna will read UAG so trna anticodon will be AUC and it is a stop codon. so translation will stop here

but the last mrna codon UCU will be read by trna having codon AGA and it will have serine attached on it.

last U nucleotide of mRNA is not in triplet so it dont have any trna codon

A codon is a series of three bases in mRNA which is equivalent to the 3 bases in DNA; this triplet code corresponds to one amino acid. Once the mRNA is attached to a ribosome, it can assemble the protein by translating from the “language” of nucleic acids to the “language” of amino acids. What is the processed called? In order to synthesize a protein molecule, amino acids need to be aligned in the proper sequence along the RNA sequence....
