Certain combinations of gut microbes have been associated with risk for metabolic syndrome. Suggest and explain at least three explanations for how this could occur. Consider both causative and correlative explanations.

Answer #1

gut microbes play a major role in metabolism and thus are alsways associated with metabolic syndrome. they adopt following mechanisms in our gut which increase our susceptibility for metabolic syndromes:;

1. they change digestive tract physiology and gut motility due to increased presentation of surface microvilli in intestines.

2. they inhibit expression of fasting-induced adipose factor (FIAF) which breakdowns fatty molecules but gut microbes inhibit expression of FIAF thus promote fat deposition in adipocytes making us obese.

3. they suprress release of certain kinases involved in managing cellular level stress such as hypoxia, glucose deprivation and thus downregulates many important metabolic functions such as glucose uptake, insulin secretion, etc.

You have information to suggest that a certain continuous variable of a population has a mean of μ=12.44μ=12.44 and a standard deviation of σ=6.78σ=6.78. You are to randomly pick n=68n=68 individuals from this population and observe the value of the population variable on each . This value is to measured as XiXi. After the random sample of n=68n=68 has been taken, you are asked to consider the behavior of the statistic X¯¯¯¯X¯. (a) Complete the statement below. Use at least...

1. An otherwise normal adult XY-man begins lactating. Explain circumstances that could cause this. What would have to happen in order for this to occur? Particularly consider the endocrine system role, but also the anatomy involved 2. Suggest a single, specific malfunction in the immune system that would affect at least three other systems. For each system, explain how it would be affected and what that system would do to bring the body back to homeostasis. (Note: an infection is...

Some individuals suggest that an increase in wages can be associated with an increase in interest rates. Apparently, this idea shows the tendency that the financial institutions would be committed to take part in the efforts to increase wages. Others argue that there is no any historical evidence that the financial institutions would be worried about wage increase. They also raise some important questions such as: How on earth would an interest rate to a proportion of above 4% would...

When studying metabolic pathways, there's many experimental techniques you can use in a lab. Imagine you are studying the effects of certain pills on the expression of the genes involved in metabolism. From your work in the facility, you know that the genes for all of the enzymes involved have been cloned. Your goal is to test how these genes respond to three separate concoctions; even though you have unlimited funds, you are short on time and can only pick...
