Certain combinations of gut microbes have been associated with risk for metabolic syndrome. Suggest and explain at least three explanations for how this could occur. Consider both causative and correlative explanations.
gut microbes play a major role in metabolism and thus are alsways associated with metabolic syndrome. they adopt following mechanisms in our gut which increase our susceptibility for metabolic syndromes:;
1. they change digestive tract physiology and gut motility due to increased presentation of surface microvilli in intestines.
2. they inhibit expression of fasting-induced adipose factor (FIAF) which breakdowns fatty molecules but gut microbes inhibit expression of FIAF thus promote fat deposition in adipocytes making us obese.
3. they suprress release of certain kinases involved in managing cellular level stress such as hypoxia, glucose deprivation and thus downregulates many important metabolic functions such as glucose uptake, insulin secretion, etc.
