How do lipophilic and lipophobic hormones bring about different responses within their target cells?
Provide a detailed description of the pathways involved for both types of hormone.
Answer:
Lipophilic and lipophobic hormones have different response in their target cells. This is because:
Our cell membrane is made up of lipid bilayer .It allow lipophilic (lipid soluble) hormones to pass through it and combine to their receptor inside the cell , to exhibit respective function.
Lipophobic hormones usually have their receptors on the cell membrane in the form of proteins, these bind to these receptors which have a conformational change and send chemical messengers into the cell to stimulate the assigned function.
