Explain how polarity of a substance affects the movement across the membrane.
Polarity of any substance affect movement because mainly bio membranes are made up of polar and non polar part for example Cell membranes consist of a phospholipid bilayer. The phospholipids have a polar head and a nonpolar tail.As the biological membrane contain lipid in their structure polar molecules are unable to pass through the membrane but nonpolar molecules can pass through them. For passage of polar molecules there are protein channel or integral protein. These proteins can bind with polar molecules and then undergo confirmation change to pass polar molecules.
