Describe the process of how water freezes
When water freezes it is basically changing its state from liquid to solid. As we all know, the matter is made up of molecules. Any substance made up of molecules, has an energy level of its own because of the movement of its molecules.
Molecules of liquids have high kinetic energy. Their intermolecular space between them is enough to allow them to move and allow space for other molecules between their own molecules. When water is getting converted to ice when it is put in a freezer, the freezer is basically reducing the energy of the water molecules by reducing the temperature. This causes the water molecules to slow their movement and as it gets colder, its molecules slow down and arrange themselves in crystallized form. This is how ice is formed.
