Enzymes speed up reactions by lowering the EA. Explain in 4-6 sentences how enzymes accomplish this feat.
Also Include in your answer the following information:
Activation energy is defined as the minimum amount of energy which is required by a reacting molecule in a reaction to get converted into a product. It is necessary for a spontaneous reaction because addition of this energy makes the reacting molecule unstable by putting it in a transition state and hence breaking the bonds of reactants become efficient. Enzymes interact with reactants/substrate by various means in order to lower the activation energy. These means are applying torque on the substrate to break bonds between them, positioning substrates in a proper orientation, adding or removing functional groups on the substrates, providing proper pH to the reaction.
