rRNA is the ribosomal ribonucleic acid. This component is important for carrying out protein synthesis. It would be constituting of the ribosomal component. The rRNA constitutes of 40% protein, along with 60% of rRNA as well as 3/5th of the mass of the ribosome. Ribosomes would be having two of the major rna as well as a number of proteins.

Three reasons why rRNA is conserved are as follows:

  • The 16s rna is for identification as this component does not convert into mRNA . As a result, this component is present in all of the bacteria
  • It is easy to isolate
  • Because it is highly conserved, there could be easy primers designed for this group which allows tracing evolutionary relationships easily.
