Diploid organisms have two sets of chromosomes whereas haploid organisms have a single set of chromosomes. Allele is an alternative form of gene and located on the same site on the homologus chromosomes. A haploid organism with a non functioning gene will no longer survive. A haploid organism is having only one allele in each gene. It is the only copy of that particular gene.If that allele in a gene is non-functional, no other allele is there in the haploid organisms to mask the non-functional allele and hence the organisms cannot be able to survive.
