Where are chloropast proteins translated?

Where are chloropast proteins translated?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Chloroplast proteins are synthesised in the cytoplasm generaly. The chloroplast proteins have essential role in photosynthesis and energy capture.

In plants apart from nuclear DNA, there are DNA found in chloroplast also. However 90% of the chloroplast proteins are encoded by nuclear genes. There are around 3000 chloroplast proteins. This proteins are synthesised in ribosomes in the cytoplasm and transported to chloroplast.Chloroplast DNA also encode few of its proteins.
