A boy and both his parents have a Widow’s peak (a dominant trait). All have the same phenotype do they all share the same genotype? Explain.
A genotype is the combination of different alleles of a gene. A phenotype is due to the genotype. If the genotype is dominant then it will show the phenotype even in heterozygous condition, but for a recessive trait, the genotype must be the homozygous condition.
Now here the parents and child all have a widow's peak which is a dominant trait and can be possible with either AA or Aa. Both there will have the same phenotype, but the genotype is different. So for a same phenotype the genotype can be same or different.
