Answer: Work done in a system is possible with the involvement of energy. Work done is any things means it is the movement of an object from a place to another place or the movement of a molecule from one location to another location in the cellular system. So the cellular process also requires energy for the movement of molecules (ex-Active transport). But when the movement of molecules through the potential gradient (from a higher potential energy to the lower potential energy or from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration) then there is no need of energy for that work done. Work done in passive transport is also from a region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration that do not require any energy. So actually work is done without involvement of actual energy.
