It is always better to prevent the disease than to treat it. Vaccines play an important role in protecting our children from dangerous diseases like diphtheria, measles, hepatitis etc. The deadly smallpox disease has been eradicated from the world mainly because of vaccination. Polio has been eliminated and is on the verge of eradication. All these are possible only because of vaccination. Vaccine preventable diseases have a costly impact resulting in doctor visits, repeated hospitalisations, economic loss and premature death. So, vaccines are absolutely necessary for the maintainance of health and prevention of disease.
