How are the terms genome, chromosome, plasmid, extra-chromosomal DNA, and DNA double helix related?
The Double helix DNA with nucleosomes are called chromosomes. DNA molecules other than chromosome in eukaryotes are reffered as extra chromosomal DNA eg. plasmids (an autonomus, naked, cirucular extrachromosomal DNA is reffered as plasmid), mitochondiral DNA, chlororplast DNA etc.
The haploid set of DNA content viz., chromosomal and extrachrmosomal DNA together reffered as genome or simply the haploid set of gamete (as it contains both chromosomal and extrachrmosomal DNA ) is called genome.
