Discuss the molecular functions of p24 protein in relation to its HIV pathogenicity. Cite your references.
Viral capsid protein p24 has an important role in pathogenesis of HIV virus. Inhibitor molecules and peptides that target P24 inhibit virus replication in treated cell. They have high biological stability of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and also possess high specificity due to which they are preferred over other molecules for in vivo treatment. Monoclonal antibodies are unable to target surface molecules because they do not enter into the cells. mAb peculiar to p24 inhibit the virus replication. In general
κFGF-MTS -conjugated mAbs affect the T cells and at nontoxic concentration, the κFGF-MTS-anti-p24-mAbs reduced the HIV-1 replication in T-lymphocyte and PBMCs
