How are prions diffferent from all other known infectious agents?
Answer-
Prions, derived from the word, proteinaceous infectious agents, are infectious particles composed entirely of proteins. They are seen to be the causative agent of several neurodegenerative diseases. Once affected the individual is threatened to life. Prions are known to be different from all other infectious agents such as viruses, parasites and fungi. This is because prions do not contain nucleic acids i.e. DNA or RNA whereas the other are made up of either DNA, RNA or Both forms of nucleic acid.
