Briefly explain the role of rubisco in regulating the Calvin cycle in response to the environmental CO2 level
Rubisco is an enzyme which basically involves in the process of carbon fixation, where it helps to convert carbon dioxide to glucose, which is being the first step of the Calvin cycle. As the number of chemical conversions of substrate i.e. low turnover number of rubisco (in Calvin cycle) becomes decreased it may affect the rate of photosynthesis
Because of competitors (oxygen and carbon dioxide) there will be increase in the level of carbon dioxide at the active site of rubisco. If there is balancing relationship between rubisco and that of the Calvin cycle the rate of or the enhancing capacity of photosynthesis can also improve effectively.
