Is the symmetry of an Alstromeria flower radially symmetrical or bilaterally symmetrical?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ANSWER :

Alstromeria flower is bilaterally symmetrical

EXPLANATION :

Flowers may be regular that exhibit radial symmetry, or irregular that exhibit bilateral symmetry.

Alstroemeria is zygomorphic which means bilaterally symmetrical flower with 3 sepals and 3, generally, striped petals. Sepals and petals when identical then are called as tepals.

The tepals on the Alstroemeria are similar in color and texture which means there are no solid green sepals.

In alstroemeria some tepals are slightly different, and is bilateral. They have single pistil, with 3- chambered ovary at the base, and six stamens.
